Introduction
Regripping your golf clubs is one of the most important and cost-effective ways to maintain your equipment. Worn grips can lead to poor shots, extra grip pressure, and fatigue. The good news? It's a straightforward process you can do at home with the right tools.
What You'll Need
- New golf grips
- Grip tape (double-sided)
- Grip solvent
- A vice with a rubber clamp
- A hook blade or utility knife
- A towel
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Remove the Old Grip
Secure the club in a vice and use a hook blade to carefully cut along the length of the old grip. Peel it away and remove any old tape from the shaft.
Step 2: Apply New Grip Tape
Wrap double-sided grip tape along the length of the grip area, overlapping slightly. Fold the excess tape into the open end of the shaft.
Step 3: Apply Solvent
Pour grip solvent over the tape and inside the new grip to activate the adhesive. Work quickly — solvent evaporates fast.
Step 4: Slide On the New Grip
Align the grip and slide it onto the shaft in one smooth motion. Make sure it's fully seated and the alignment mark is square to the clubface.
Step 5: Allow to Dry
Leave the club to dry for at least 24 hours before use. Avoid twisting or adjusting the grip once it's set.
